Valpo - segunda día

So we woke up to a sunny but still chilly next day in Valpo. We didn't quite know what to do today since we actually covered most of the sightseeing spots the day before. Although we hadn't been as high as Pablo Neruda's second house here in Valpo (he has three that all can be visited) so we decided to go there. We didn't feel like another house tour with that we assumed would be quite similar information but we thought the walk there would give us a different view of the city and we could see his house from outside. It was a nice walk, not too steep, on the contrary easy walking.

So this day was mostly spent enjoying some more street art and going for some shopping. As for the art we learnt there's no special history to it. Most artists get paid by accommodations, restaurants etc to paint there buildings and you can often find an instagram tag to them. Doesn't make it less cool though :-)

More christmas decorations

Santa and the reindeers

We went shopping around Sotomayor in big stores, although nothing you'll find at home. No h&m or such that you find in Santiago. I found some dresses and J found a pair of sunglasses. Christmas sales everywhere which was nice, otherwise it's not so cheap here. Cheap from European standard but way more expensive than for example Peru or Panama. What we also found was a beautiful painting of the city of Valparaiso. A lovely souvenir memory :-)

Main course from one of the typical lunch venues including appetuzer, main course and dessert.

We booked a table at a restaurant a friend recommended me that stayed here for one or two semesters. They had very interesting choices with many different flavour combinations. J had some meat with a passion fruit sauce and I had some asparagus mint sauce to my dish. It was fancy and nice but the food in the fancy restaurant in Santiago was better, and a little cheaper. But their dessert on the other hand! Pavlova. So good! One should go just for a coffe and this one here.

Different times of the evening in three photos

We had a nice time in Valpo but looking back I think that we could just as well had made a day trip there. Going super early from Santiago and going back late in the evening would be perfect. At least for us :-)

Hasta luego,
S
